Steps to Begin the Journey of Faith

We are happy to accompany you and your family as you begin this beautiful journey of faith. Please review the steps below to begin the Baptism process at the Church of the Visitation.

1. Meet with a Priest

Parents are required to have an initial meeting with a priest before beginning the Baptism process.

Please bring:

• A copy of the child's birth certificate or hospital certificate (if infant is 3 months or younger)

• A copy of one parent's valid photo ID

2. Complete the Baptism Registration Form

Parents must complete our online Baptism Registration Form to begin the process.

3. Godparent Requirements

To serve as a godparent, a person must:

• Be Catholic and at least 16 years of age

• Have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation

• If married, be married in the Catholic Church

4. Godparent Documentation

Each godparent must provide:

• A copy of their Confirmation Certificate

• If married, a copy of their Catholic Church Marriage Certificate

5. Baptism Preparation Course

Both parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Course.

The Church of the Visitation currently offers a Baptism Preparation Course once a month on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom.

• Class length: approximately 1 hour

• If you attend a Baptism Preparation Course at another Catholic church, you may provide a certificate of completion to our parish office.

6. Private Baptism Fee

The fee for a Private Baptism is $150. Payment may be made securely through ParishSOFT by clicking here after confirming the baptism date with the secretary.
