Anointing of the Sick

In previous generations, this sacrament was called Extreme Unction, used only when one was in danger of death. After the Second Vatican Council, it was transformed to more closely model the ministry of Jesus. As He went through Galilee healing those who were infirmed, we realize that a return to health is a sign of God’s mercy and a reflection of what the Kingdom will be like. This sacrament still is for those who are dying, to help them and their family prepare for their entrance into heaven. But it is also for those who are ill and seek to regain their health in mind, body and / or spirit.

If someone is in need of anointing, please call the rectory at 310.216.1145 so that a priest might be of help to you and your family.
