Religious Education for your Children
If you’ve got children and teens in the family, we invite you to enroll them in Religious Education here in the parish. Most classes meet weekly during the regular school year. There are special requirements for Sacramental preparation as well. Generally, registration for these programs takes place in the Fall, but if you are joining the parish during another time of year, contact Fr. Tim McGowan, Director of Volunteers for the Religious Education Program at the Church Office 310-216-1145 to help determine the best time and program for your children to join. You can also click here to visit our Religious Education program webpages to learn more.
The best way to get started in a Parish is to jump in! We have a variety of opportunities for you to grow in faith and devotion through Bible Study, our monthly “Food, Faith and Fellowship” evenings, or daily and weekly devotional groups. Browse the section of our website labeled “Growing our Faith” and see what options look like a good fit for your family. Also, check out our event calendar online to see when these activities are taking place. Try out a few things and we thing you’ll find a welcoming spirit in all our programs.
There are also opportunities to be of service within the parish in one of our Liturgical Ministries such as ushering, lectoring or singing in one of our choirs. Click here to check out these ministries. Or the support ministries such as Church Angels who clean and prepare the church. Click here to check out these ministries.
Our parishioners are also involved in service to others in our broader community in imitation of Christ! For example, we support St Margaret’s Center in nearby Lennox by preparing lunches weekly for their participants. St. Margaret’s Center’s goal is to provide relief, dignity and support to low-income persons in crisis and to assist individuals through case management and skills development to become more self-sufficient and to achieve economic security. We’re proud to support St Margaret’s, as well as the Claire Foundation in Santa Monica. Click here to learn more about serving our community with us.
There are also some activities that are just plain fun like our Food Truck Fridays during the summer months, our annual Las Vegas Night, and other periodic community gatherings and activities. Be sure to check our website or Sunday Bulletin regularly to see what’s coming up on the schedule. Or Friend Us on Facebook (here) and we’ll always be in touch.
